    STAR TOTS BABY ROOM

Our Baby room is for babies aged 3-12months. We can cater for six babies at any one time with two experienced and highly qualified staff members. We have designed our baby room to create a warm, homely caring atmosphere where all the needs of each baby can be catered for.
Our dedicated baby room staff gently encourage each baby to develop and learn at their own pace. We are very aware of each baby's individual needs and capabilities. we carefully plan each of our baby's day's activities to ensure that we cover all aspects of the early years education.
Our separate sleep room allows our babies to rest peacefully throughout the day. During their time in the baby room they will be introduced to many different activities which include painting, play dough, water play story time and lots of tactile activities. But what's even more important to us is that the babies receive lots and lots of snuggle time which is so important at this very young age nothing beats a good snuggle and lots of kisses throughout your day.
During their time in the Baby room the babies will be assessed using our observation forms through our learning journal to ensure that they are reaching all their milestones.
Parents are also able to log into our ipad system which will allow parents to see in real time their babies day i.e their activities ,food, nappies and lots of photos are all on their very own personal account.

  • Wobbler

    STAR TOTS WOBBLER ROOM

At approximately 12 months, when your child is crawling and attempting to walk, they’ll become a wobbler. At this stage children are naturally curious and starting to explore their environment. In our dedicated wobbler room we will help them build on this desire for independence while still giving them the love and attention that they need.
Our colourful wobbler room is bright, warm and friendly, with the same nurturing environment of our baby room. At this stage the children’s routine becomes a little more structured as we start to encourage them through their key physical, intellectual, language, emotional and social milestones.
Mealtimes become a social occasion with the introduction of new foods and textures.
The introduction of daily outdoor play gives children the opportunity to explore and participate in physical games.  During their time in the Wobbler room the children will be assessed using our observation forms through our learning journal to ensure that they are reaching all their milestones.
Parents are also able to log into our ipad system which will allow parents to see in real time their Wobblers's day i.e their activities ,food, nappies and lots of photos are all on their very own personal account.

  • Montessori

    STAR TOTS MONTESSORI ROOM

Montessori is a method of teaching children that is designed to encourage independence and a love of learning. It was designed by Dr Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, in the early 20th century and is a method of education that centres on self-directed learning.
Montessori teaching is designed to follow the child’s natural developmental stages. Guided by teachers, children are encouraged to immerse themselves in activities of interest them and develop their innate passion for learning.
Teaching takes place from 9am-noon in a relaxed learning environment. We spend around 90 minutes’ on structured teaching and themed discussions on subjects such as what’s happening in the news, followed by 90 minutes working on educational projects with themes such as the solar system or hibernation.
Our Montessori classes also help children prepare for when they go to school by encouraging independence and getting them used to routine. The children also wear smocks so they become accustomed to wearing a uniform.
