Our Montessori Room

The Montessori Method

Montessori is a method of teaching children that is designed to encourage independence and a love of learning. It was designed by Dr Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, in the early 20th century and is a method of education that centres on self-directed learning.

A Child Lead Approach

Montessori teaching is designed to follow the child’s natural developmental stages. Guided by teachers, children are encouraged to immerse themselves in activities of interest them and develop their innate passion for learning. Along with following the Montessori method we also focus on a child lead approach with encourages all children to be confident, competent learners.

Teaching Hours

Teaching takes place from 9 am - 1 pm in a relaxed learning environment, we also offer a 9 am - 12 pm sessional class. We spend around 90 minutes’ on structured teaching and themed discussions on subjects such as what’s happening in the news, followed by 90 minutes working on educational projects with themes such as the solar system or hibernation.

Our Montessori classes also help children prepare for the transition of going to school by encouraging independence and getting them used to routine.
